Albums
Toto's discography consists of 13 studio albums as well as 4 live albums. There are also a few compilations. Toto has released original music and collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The group has won multiple Grammy Awards.
Before Toto was formed, members of the band did session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session drummer Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs' 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 in the wake of the collaboration.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album, was criticized by critics for lacking hit singles. In 1985 the lead singer Fergie Frederiksen quit the group, and the band held auditions to find the new frontman. The band picked guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.
In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by re-discovering old tapes and demos to release a special album called Toto XX. The album was well-received by fans and the band embarked on a tour with former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
Shem von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as drummer on the tour for the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included live recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the group.

Toto is a rock band from the United States that was formed in Van Nuys in Greater Los Angeles in 1977. The band decided to let him leave at the conclusion of the tour and then hired guitarist and singer Joseph Williams in his place. Toto has released a number of music videos. The band has released a number of compilation videos and DVDs. The most popular video of the group is "Africa" which has over one billion views on YouTube. The video is set in a library, and shows the band performing in front of a pile of books about Africa.
The track "Africa" is from the album Toto IV. The song was written by members of the band and produced by David Paich. It was a big hit in Europe and other countries. The success of the single helped Toto to regain their popularity, after their previous album Turn Back failed to chart in America.

Following the release of the album, Toto went on a world tour. The group was joined by tour musicians Lenny Castro, Shannon Forrest, Warren Ham and Shem von Schroeck. Steve Lukather also released his second solo album, Luke.
In 1985, Fergie Frederiksen, Toto's drummer, quit the group for personal reasons. Toto held an audition to find a replacement for Frederiksen.
Prior to and during the time of Toto's formation it was a time when its members were session musicians for a wide variety of artists. Drummer Jeff Porcaro and bassist David Hungate were on the album Silk Degrees by Boz Scaggs which led to the band's formation. Keyboardist Paich was frequent on records by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.
In 1998, Toto started working on a project entitled Old Is New. The album featured three new tracks as well as a number of completed recordings of older songs. The album received a lot of attention worldwide and the band went on a worldwide tour to promote it.

Toto, known for the hit song "Africa" Recently, the band joined forces to promote their upcoming album, All In. The album, released on November 6, 2018, featured three new tracks from the forthcoming 40 Trips Around the Sun as well as a complete recording of four older tracks with Jeff Porcaro playing drums and Mike or Steve Porcaro playing bass. The album also featured the cover version of Weezer's song "Hash Pipe" that the band added after hearing it on the radio.
