Albums
The discography of the American rock group Toto includes 13 studio albums, four live albums, and numerous compilations. Toto has released original music and collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. Toto has won numerous Grammy Awards for their work.
Before Toto was formed the members of the group played sessions for other musicians. David Paich, the son of drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all performed on Boz Scaggs’ 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 following the collaboration.
Toto's third album, Turn Back, marked an abrupt departure from the progressive sound of their earlier albums, and was criticised for its lack of hit singles. In 1985 the group's singer Fergie Fredericksen resigned the group, and they held auditions to find a new frontman. The band picked guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.
In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by re-discovering old demos and tapes to release a special album called Toto XX. The album was a hit by fans, and the band embarked on a tour featuring former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
During the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun the drummer Leland Sklar left the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set titled Falling in Between, which included live recordings from the tour and an interview with Toto.
